Police called and abuser arrested or victim leaves house

Victim fears imminent danger, does not return to house or police arrest abuser

File Emergency DVI immediately that day or next, do not let abuser return to house or victim cannot return

Return hearing is scheduled, usually within 14 days

Contact attorney (free services or paid depending on ability) immediately

Attorney will get list of witness, including police

Final injunction granted or not, possible appeal

If Child(ren) involved, usually judge will refer parties to magistrate immediately after.

Even if police have not been involved in the specific incident, an Emergency DVI can be filed and granted.
